Homepage

The first page, the landing page, usually with the table of contents of a website. We can navigate to almost every page of the website from the Homepage. The Homepage is the page that first appears when we write a domain name into our browser.

Invitation email

The content of an e-detailing presentation is delivered to a user via an email invitation. The viewer then can access the product presentation by clicking ont he link in the email without providing a username or password.

iOS

The operation system developed by Apple Inc. for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, called iPhone OS, OS X iPhone or iOS.

IP address

IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique network ID, which is used to identify computers communicating with each other. Every computer connected to the internet has an IP address. Computers using the internet provide their IP addresses during every transaction. With this address theoretically it is possible to find the location and owner of one specific computer, and a lot of different data can be collected about the activity on that computer. The IP address is considered personal data in many countries, including Hungary.

Link

Hyperlinks or links connect similar information on an online platform. This connecting tool can refer to text or other online content (videos, images). Links can be useful when several information pieces are connected to a certain online content from different sources. Links usually stand out in their surrounding text and it is best to format them differently.

Link directory

A link directory is an online platform that shows sites and content organized in different categories. Link directories include for example startlap.hu and subsites under lap.hu. These are organized based on topics and contain links to online content. It is highly recommended to register our websites in link directories, since the links published on these platforms drive traffic to our sites and in the meantime we can increase the number of external links that link to our page.

Microblog

The difference between a microblog and a blog is that the posts of a microblog are very short, usually only including a link, image, video or a couple of sentences. The user platform tends to be simple as well. The focus is on information shared fast and straight to the point. Microblogging platforms include Twitter or Posterous.

Newsletter

A newsletter is an electronically distributed regular publication. The newsletter usually focuses on one topic based on the subscriber’s interest. Since email became more preferred compared to traditional letters, newsletters also quickly became a widely popular way to inform people. Sending newsletters is an effective way of informing for providers, since they can be easily sent out at once for a large number of users. It is important to note that newsletters can only be sent to people who have given permission to the provider. Advertisement materials distributed without permission are qualified as spam.

Page impression

PI is a short term for page impression, this means the number of page downloads. We can differentiate between full page impressions and incomplete page impressions. The first one refers to the number of pages completely downloaded, the second one refers to the number of all page downloads regardless of the fact that the download was complete or it was interrupted before completion.

Page view

When we view a website in our browser we actually download the site. If we view a certain page for twenty times than the number of page views is going to be twenty. The page view refers to the number of full pages downloaded, namely how many times all users viewed our page.

Pop-up

A pop-up window, known also as pop-up is a general name for all online windows appearing without the user actually clicking on them. The most well-known versions are the pop-up windows appearing in browsers containing advertisements. There are several programs that block pop-ups. With using the pop-up windows accordingly, visitors can be easily guided online. It is not a coincidence that online marketing companies use these tools on their websites.

PPC (pay per click)

It is an advertising method where payments are made after clicks and advertisers can bid on the amount paid per clicks. The goal of bidding is that in a certain category the advertiser offering the highest price could get a better position compared to its competitors.

Rating

In addition to the feedback survey at the end of the e-detailing presentation viewers have the option to rate the information provided on the slides either with writing a short text or in a numerical form on a scale.

RSS

RSS includes the newest contet of websites, blogs and web portals. It is a tool that helps to distribute newly uploaded articles and posts. It is more of an interactive solution compared to the traditional newsletter, since users can subscribe to RSS feeds by themselves and decide what kind of sources to use to get up-to-date content and news. Using RSS is a comfortable solution for users who can collect and manage news from hundreds of websites on one single platform. RSS feeds can be viewed on websites or with different applications specifically designed for this purpose.

Slide

One page of the e-detailing product presentation or information, one out of the series of slides. The online presentation can be viewed by going through these slides. The opening slide is the first, the closing slide is the last of the series of slides. The slides that contain key information or logically important elements are called „milestone slides”. These slides are positioned in the presentation so that the viewers don’t skip them.

Smartphone

An advanced mobile phone often with PC-like functions, which has a complete operation system providing developers with a standard platform. It is a mobile device with advanced functions like e-mail, internet, e-book reader and/or a complete keyboard.

Social link sharing

With social link sharing the user collects links from different websites and stores them systematically organized. These links can be shared with other users as well. Social link sharing sites include Delicious or Google Reader.

Social media

The goal of social media platforms is to spread messages through social interactions. With web applications and online tools social media is trying to transform one way information flow into a dialogue and interactive message. This brings changes into the role of users also, since they become editors and content providers.

Social news sharing

With social news sharing users can post news articles, links and their own comments and opinions about the content shared. The most popular, highest rated pieces are visible on the platform. Social news sharing sites include Digg or Reddit.

Spam

Big number of electronic messages and advertisements, sent mainly via emails that a user receives without giving permission to the messanger. Spam unnecessarily takes up a lot of storage room and deleting unwanted emails is time-consuming. Millions of spam messages can be sent at once, they usually have misleading titles or subject lines. They could be dangerous as well since sometimes the intention of the messanger is to collect private user data and bank account details.
